Why do I get copyright claims when streaming on social media?

Some social media platforms use algorithms that are programed to listen to your video, and will issue a violation, strike, or takedown notice if they detect any music which may infringe copyright. As a result, the video may be muted or deleted. Unfortunately, these algorithms are not perfect, and you may get a violation notice even if you have the appropriate permissions, or did not actually use any pre-recorded audio or video.

There is no way to let these platforms know ahead of time that you have a valid license. You may provide the license documentation to dispute a strike/violation notice if and when you receive it by mistake. Please be aware that CCLI's Streaming and Streaming Plus Licenseā„¢ Terms of Agreement do not override the Terms of the streaming platforms, and does not prevent violation notices on some platforms.
