Does our Church Copyright License® permit us to use songs or sheet music downloaded or copied from the internet?
Your Church Copyright License® permits you to reproduce sheet music and lyrics downloaded from websites which are authorized by the song owners to provide those resources. An exemption for church services means that song recordings can be played provided they have been obtained from a legal source. However, if you stream or upload those services to the internet, you will require a CCLI Streaming Plus License® from CCLI or Christian Copyright Solutions (CCS), depending on the type of songs that are played. To play song recordings in church activities outside of services you will likely require a PERFORMmusic License from CCS.
