I write songs. How do I go about copyrighting them?

Under current Copyright Law, copyright is automatic, and a newly-written song is protected from the moment that it is written down or recorded in some physical or tangible format. Songs do not have to be registered in any way to have copyright protection, however, if there is a chance others may wish to use them, we would recommend you take steps to prove your ownership.
