Why do we need a Church Video License®?
To show any movies or movie clips in your church, legal permission needs to be obtained. The Church Video License has agreements with many production/distributor companies that allow churches to show movies that are distributed under their company name. Please refer to the entire listing of the production companies that are covered by the license by going to the website: cvli.com. Click on the Producer tab to pull up the list that would pertain to the particular level of licensing for your church. If the movie you wish to show is distributed by any of these companies, it would be covered.
The Church Video License gives public performance rights for content intended for personal private use only. The source doesn't matter; whether it's DVD, Blu-ray, streamed, downloaded, online channels, a digital locker - so long as the movie content is official, legal and lawfully manufactured - and one of CVL's Authorized Producers - it's covered under the scope of our license.
For movies that are not covered you would need to obtain permissions separately by contacting their distributor.
